JAMA NATIONAL PRAYER TOUR
JAMA, at its very core, is about prayer - prayers for repentance, prayers for renewal, prayers for revival. Indeed, this prayer movement can be traced to a gathering in 1993 of a handful of Korean-Americans who were burdened by the revival of their adopted homeland, America. That burden was carried over into 1994, where Dr. John Kim, JAMA's President, his wife Sung, and their son, rented a car and drove over 12,000 miles across this country for 42 days, embracing America into their heart of hearts, praying for each town they visited, and connecting with local churches who also desired to see revival and awakening in this land again. (Four years later, Dr. and Mrs. Kim and Rev. Chris Woon Y. Kang took a similar cross-country journey, this time covering more cities, praying with and ministering to more local churches, and driving more miles (over 20,000) over more days (80)).
These intercessory "road trips" were pivotal moments in the founding and formation of JAMA. Compelled by God's command in Joel 2:12-14 ("Even now . . . return to me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning; and rend your hearts and not your garments. Return to the LORD your God, for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love; and he relents over disaster") and the state of our country and campuses today, on August 15, 2010, 16 years from his first road trip to embrace his adopted homeland, Dr. Kim will be embarking on a 173-day U.S. prayer tour. He, along with other JAMA speakers, will start in New York City, then up to the colleges and cities of New England and upstate New York, then back down the Atlantic Coast to the towns, churches and campuses in New Jersey, Philadelphia, Maryland, Virginia, and North Carolina.
From there, the tour hits America's heartland, the Midwest (Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, MInnesota, Wisconsin, Ohio, and Michigan) and the Big-10 universities, with stops at Penn State and Pittsburgh along the way. Then its on to the southeast - Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Arkansas, and Oklahoma, with a week in Texas before moving on to the southwest (Arizona, Nevada), and then to the last leg of the tour down the Pacific (Washington, Oregon, and a week in California), onto Colorado, and finishing in Hawaii. It is our hope and prayer that this unprecedented cross-country tour, by God's grace, power, and anointing, will, "even now," spur a spiritual avalanche of prayer and repentance, sparking revival and awakening throughout America.
Do you long to see revival in your church and family? Do you want to join others in your area to pray for a spiritual breakthrough in your cities and communities? In your schools and workplaces? Do you sense that there is something stirring in your part of the country and across America? That our sovereign God is moving?
We do. And we want to do something about it. Won't you join us?
